Privacy notice (KVKK) | Yemeni Engineers Association in Türkiye

This notice must be reviewed by the association (preferably with legal advice) before the site launches.

Under Turkish Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (“KVKK”), we inform you how the personal data you share when applying for membership is processed.

Personal data processed

The following information you provide in the membership application form is processed:

Email address
Full name in English as written on your residence permit
Whether you are a student
Academic degree (bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate)
Phone number
Foreign identification number (YKN / Kimlik number)
Engineering specialty
Home address as registered with the population registry
Whether you wish to apply for permanent residency if registration opens
Links (Drive or Dropbox) to your residence permit, personal photo and latest diploma, and the documents behind those links

Purpose and legal basis

Your data is processed only to assess your membership application, verify the membership conditions (Yemeni nationality, at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering, residence in Türkiye) and contact you about your application. The legal basis is your explicit consent and the need to process the data to establish a contract (the membership relationship).

Application data is stored on Cloudflare infrastructure (D1 database); as a service provider, Cloudflare may use servers located abroad. Your data is viewed only by authorised members of the association’s board, under access control, and is not shared with third parties, subject to legal obligations. Member lists are not published.

Retention

Accepted applications are kept for the duration of membership and for the legal periods after it ends. Data from rejected or withdrawn applications is deleted or anonymised no later than [retention period, e.g. 12 months] after the decision.

Your rights (KVKK article 11)

By contacting the data controller you may: learn whether your personal data is processed; request information if it has been processed; learn the purpose of processing and whether it is used accordingly; know the third parties to whom it is transferred in Türkiye or abroad; request correction if it is incomplete or incorrect; request deletion or destruction under KVKK article 7; request that these actions be notified to third parties to whom data was transferred; object to a result against you arising from automated analysis of your data; and claim compensation if you suffer damage from unlawful processing.
